Thriftwood Winter Camp 09
Winter camp at Thriftwood. Jan 09.
Another cold camp. On the Saturday the max temperature was minus 2! That didn’t stop the scouts having a great weekend taking part in the “Pedal Car Olympics”. Fortunately it warmed up a bit on Sunday.
We camped with a round 100 scouts from Brentwood and there was about 600 scouts taking part in the weekend. As well as the pedal cars the scouts had a chance to try the other activities Thrftwood has such as Ice Climbing.
Fortunately we had a large army tent with a gas heater, so kept warm all weekend. We even had to keep the gas bottles warm, preventing them from freezing – Scouts from another Troop had to go home, because there gas froze!
Fortunately the Scout Leaders kept warm overnight – we managed to sort out some electric heating for our tents! Its the only way to camp?
The Scouts have already asked if they can go again next year………………………
