It’s a baron, featureless desert out there!

It’s official, all scout leaders, but especially Minty, are terrible at map reading!

This latest news follows an excellent overnight visit to the Secret Nuclear Bunker in Brentwood, and a hike with the Cubs and Scouts the following day.

All three groups managed to deviate from the planned route. “It was the complete lack of any navigational points that made it so hard” said Minty who is used to tough rugged welsh countryside.

All Scout leaders, as well as the scouts and cubs need to sharpen up on their map skills. Now there’s an idea for a scout evening!

    We DID NOT get lost!

We had a Dynamic Route Recalculation Algorithm running, which used recursive processing to work out the best route back.

Best thing about this picture is that the mast for the nuclear bunker is directly above my head :-)

We were definitely lost….. It was only due to the observational skills of the Mum’s who had accompanoed them on the walk that we got back at all!
