Congratulations to all the scouts who braved the sub zero conditions to race and earn their fitness challenge award.

Those who registered under the team name 3rd Brentwood Scouts managed to get us into 8th place overall on the team results. Well done to Connor for being the fastest team member at 24:17, and a mention for Henry and Kai who contributed to the team result. Big surprise that G and Andy Hill also featured in the team top 5 list!

But I must call out that George Chubb who ran a fantastic 19:44, just a shame it was for the Becket Keys team.

Also Chris Templer, raising sponsorship for the Explorer Scouts trip to Kenya recorded a very good 26:08, and his sister and ex 3rd Brentwood scout Jen Templer at 31:16. The Kenya fundraising team managed 5th place overall.

Also while we were ‘struggling’ thru the fun run, Al was breezing round the half marathon circuit, recording an impressive 2:13:48 in spite of the weather conditions. Ex-skip Bruce, fundraising for the Explorer trip to Kenya, had a good 1:51:30 for the half. Good luck to both as they take on the full London Marathon on Sunday 21st April.

A special final mention to Cookie (Sheila) also fundraising for her Kenya expedition ran the half marathon for the first time.

There were some very interesting combinations and one sandwich so large our Beaver lost his wobbly tooth biting into it!

They also designed some very smiley fruit faces, although some did have unusual features!

This term we will be investigating how to keep fit and healthy and we started off by making a healthy snack.  Muffin pizzas all round.

All of the Beavers were very careful with the sharp knives and were very proud of their creations.

The Leaders received so many generous gifts from the parents and the Beavers all took home a small gift and chocolates to celebrate a successful term.

We return on 8th January 2013.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to everyone from the 3rd Brentwood Beaver team.

The evening started with a race against the clock  as the Beavers were challenged to locate hidden treasures and answer clues from around the museum.

After a light supper, they settled down to watch A Night in the Museum before finally dropping off to sleep, dreaming about whether the exhibits were going to come to life whilst they slept…..

They all got the chance to feed the fish, stroke a bunny and hold a cricket, just before it became the lizards dinner!

Eagle has been a huge support for many years, as a Young Leader and today he took his Promise as an adult leader.

Sad to be saying ‘au revoir’ as he heads of to Uni at the weekend, but I know he’ll be flying in for some of our weekend events.
